Tickets to the 2005 Georgia National Rodeo, presented by Jeff Smith Dodge, go on sale January 15, 2005, for three rodeo performances which are scheduled for February 24, 25, and 26, 2005. Additional Rodeo sponsors include 13 WMAZ, WDEN 99 FM, and Robins Federal Credit Union.
For the second year in a row, the Georgia National Rodeo has been designated a Southeast Tourism Society "Top 20 Event for the Months of January and February."
"Tickets to the Georgia National Rodeo have grown in popularity over the years," Froehlich said. "The Rodeo has become a top event at the Agricenter. Tickets to the Rodeo are a must have for rodeo fans and thrill seekers alike," Froehlich said.
The Rodeo is sanctioned by the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association). The Rodeo features specialty acts plus cowboys and cowgirls from across the country competing in six events: saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, bull riding, and barrel racing. Points earned at the Georgia National Rodeo qualify riders for the National Finals Rodeo held every December in Las Vegas.
The 15th annual Georgia National Junior Livestock Show, February 23-27, 2005, features Georgia's 4-H and FFA students competing for statewide championships. Approximately 2,100 youth will show in classes for hogs, heifers, steers, and breeding ewes. Admission to the livestock shows is free to the public.
"The Livestock Show gives families, especially our children, an opportunity to see young agricultural enthusiasts compete for special honors," said Michael A. Froehlich, executive director, Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter. "Georgia has one of the strongest 4-H and FFA programs in the country," he added.
