Jeff Smith Dodge presents
20TH ANNUAL GEORGIA NATIONAL RODEO
February 18-20, 2010
Featuring the return of “Rudy the Rodeo Clown”
|
Rudy Burns The Rodeo Clown
In and out of school, Rudy Burns was a class clown in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Later while watching rodeo clowns, Rudy said: “I can do that.” In 1972, he got his chance and the rest is history. Rudy loves fighting bulls, but loves clowning just as much.
He fought bulls and clowned and won several awards along the way. In 1995 and 2000, Rudy was selected as the Coors Man in the Can. “I never wanted to do anything, but be a rodeo clown,” Rudy said. “Clowning is my life.” |

John Payne The One Arm Bandit
This Oklahoma cowboy spent his entire life on the back of horses with dogs at his side. John was hired to pen some bucking bulls. Apparently, the bulls did not respect a cowboy on a horse, but the dogs did the job. John tried to be an electrician one day. He failed. He sustained 7,200 volts for 10 seconds.
While the voltage was destroying his leg muscle, it burned through his fingers. He fell to his death. After CPR and two months of licking his wounds, he returned to ranching and a career on the rodeo circuit as The One Arm Bandit. |

The Georgia National Rodeo has been designated a Southeast Tourism Society “Top 20 Event for the Month of February” (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010).
The Rodeo is sanctioned by the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association). The Rodeo features specialty acts plus cowboys and cowgirls from across the country competing in seven events: saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, tie down roping, steer wrestling, team roping, bull riding, and barrel racing. Points earned at the Georgia National Rodeo qualify riders for the National Finals Rodeo held every December in Las Vegas. |
