Captain of Security

Job Title: Captain of Security
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Security
Reports To: Chief of Public Safety

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for overseeing and controlling access to facilities and grounds, as well as assisting with the protection and security of GNFA visitors, employees, facilities, and grounds.
Qualification Requirements:
To successfully fulfill this role, an individual must satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The following requirements represent the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Patrol property as a law enforcement officer.
• Ensure safety and security of GNFA at all times.
• Enforce state law and GNFA policies.
• Supervise and schedule all security personnel week to week.
• Supervise all subordinate security personnel, which may include supplemental personnel from other law enforcement agencies during large events.
• Investigate crimes, accidents, and all claims brought against the GNFA. Submit incident reports to the Public Safety Director in a timely manner.
• Monitor GNFA access during events.
• Maintain security workforce, equipment, and monitoring systems.
• Assist in controlling traffic and parking for all events.
• Annual Fair responsibilities as assigned by the Public Safety Director.
• Other duties, functions and special assignments as directed by the Public Safety Director.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Working knowledge of computers and basic operating software applications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).
• Ability to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to demonstrate supervisory and leadership skills.
• Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of convention/event security planning and related activities.
• Excellent knowledge of ability to enforce the policies and procedures of the GNFA.
Other:
• Travel from office to other location may be required.
• This position may require an irregular work schedule and the performance of work assignments which may not be directly related to job specifications.
Supervisory Control and Responsibilities:
This position has direct supervisory control over the Security supervisor positions.
Guidelines:
The Captain of Security must comply with generally accepted professional and security practices as well as relevant State and Federal regulations. Such guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in their application.
Minimum Training and/or Experience to Perform Essential Job Functions:
Must be a certified peace officer and have 5-7 years’ relevant work experience in a law enforcement position is required. Must have experience in a supervisory role, with examples of demonstrated leadership and management skills. However, a combination of education and experience may be used to meet minimum requirements.

Livestock Program Assistant II

Classification: Program Assistant II
GENERAL DESCRIPTION/POSITION SUMMARY:
The Agricultural Program Assistant II shall assist the Agricultural Program Coordinator and the Agricultural/Youth Director in the daily operations of the Livestock Department. Perform administrative and programmatic support services and activities related to program operation to enhance organizational efficiency and productivity of The Livestock Department. Maintains current departmental documents; composes, drafts, and edits correspondence, reports, contracts, and proposals; assists in the preparation of monthly reports; prepares various reports.
TYPICAL WORK ROUTINE INCLUDES, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Georgia National Fair and Livestock Events Preparation and Administration:
  • Assist in creating printed materials (premium books, premium lists, brochures, ads for breed publications, etc.)
  • Assist with administration of Livestock Credentials Office at the Fair
    • determining numbers of credentials to order from ticket office
    • balancing money at end of each day
  • Assist with administration of show office processes (includes becoming proficient with fair management software)
    • Organizing files, Help with purchasing of awards & supplies
    • Entry processing, Report generation
    • Premium check processing & printing
    • Fielding phone calls concerning entries
    • Help handle correspondence pertinent to Fair and Livestock Show
Rental Event Administration:
  • Process contracts, as well as addendums and insurance certificates for vendors booked for horse/livestock rental events
  • Process and distribute setup sheets with pertinent setup information for vendors
  • Field phone calls concerning rentals and/or vendors for rental events
Bagged Shavings Sales Administration:
  • Balance shavings sales receipts and monies after each rental event and after the Fair and Livestock Show
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Agricultural Program Assistant II shall be knowledgeable in all livestock shows and rental events related procedures established by the Georgia National Fairgrounds. The Agricultural Program Assistant II shall be prepared to interact with fellow employees and clients about policies, procedures, and overall operating guidelines for the Agricenter. The Agricultural Program Assistant II shall maintain a responsible attitude and maintain an excellent public image. Any other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by your supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required; minimum (3) years of administrative experience coupled with (1) year experience working with a major program; (3) years’ experience using computers, coupled with (2) years in database management.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds on a routine basis.
• A valid driver’s license is required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
· Ability to meet and interact with the general public while maintaining a personable yet professional manners.
· Ability to follow directions with minimum instructions.
· Ability to demonstrate leadership skills.
· Computer experience with the following software applications preferred: word processing,spreadsheet, database, and desktop publishing.

Operations Technician I

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Operations
Reports To: Operations Director

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for assisting in the performance of the routine and non-routine duties of the operations division to ensure the success of all GNFA events and overall customer satisfaction.
Qualification Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Cleaning and maintaining commercial buildings and GNFA grounds.
• Event setup and break-downs involving tables, chairs, and other equipment.
• Maintain livestock and horse facilities.
• Notify immediate supervisor of needed tools, equipment, or supplies.
• Other duties, functions and special assignments as directed by Supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to perform successfully with minimal instructions and supervision.
• Excellent knowledge of and ability to abide by all policies and procedures of the GNFA.
Other:
• Travel from office to other location may be required.

Landscaping Tech II

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for performing the routine and non-routine tasks of the landscaping division to ensure the high aesthetic standards of GNFA grounds.
Qualification Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintain all GNFA plants and ponds and help provide beautifications for all GNFA events.
• Monitor divisional inventory and notify immediate supervisor of needed tools, supplies and equipment.
• Other duties, functions and special assignments as directed by the Landscaping/Irrigation Superintendent.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to perform successfully with minimal instructions and supervision.
• Ability to safely operate a variety of heavy machinery.
• Ability to demonstrate a good working knowledge of landscaping and irrigation techniques.
• Excellent knowledge of and ability to abide by all policies and procedures of the GNFA.

• Must possess and maintain appropriate certifications for the operation of all equipment, machinery, vehicles, etc.

Electrician II

The Electrician II is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the electrical services as prescribed and shall perform within the electrical department guidelines, to include but not limited to:
  • Implementing preventive maintenance of electrical installations in all exhibit halls, barns, arenas, maintenance buildings and all other electrical distribution equipment on or belonging to the Georgia National Fairgrounds, monitoring operation techniques as to safety procedures, complying with equipment distribution requests, review required operation techniques, complete daily routine and/or event assignments as required and such other functions and duties as required. Position reports to the Electrical Superintendent.
  • Candidate should demonstrate technical expertise in the field of applied electrical service and have knowledge of all safety and electrical codes. The candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training will receive preference. Three (3) years of electrical experience working as an electrician for an electrical contractor/company with exposure to 277/480 volt and 120/208 volt systems. The candidate should exhibit to perform with minimal supervision.
This position should require no travel. Further, the position will require an irregular work schedule to accommodate the needs of particular shows and events. Candidate must pass a background check.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour

Part Time Food Service Cashier/Cook/Catering Staff

Part Time Food Service Cashier - Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter
1. Take Orders: Food Service Cashier records orders from customers to ensure accuracy and clarity by use of Point-of-Sale System to input orders efficiently.
2. Payment Collection: Collect payments from customers, handling cash, credit cards, or other forms of payments. Makes change for customers. Verifies credit acceptance and operates credit card authorizations. Issue receipts.
3. Customer Service: Cashiers interact with customers, welcoming them, taking orders politely and addressing any questions or complaints. Striving to provide excellent customer service. Provide pricing information to customers.
4. Order Assembly: Assist in assembling food items, packaging them, and ensuring prompt delivery. Help kitchen staff when needed.
5. Supply Orders: Be able to supply your area with needed list of supplies.
6. Cooking: When needed lend a hand with the preparation of food.
7. Balance Cash Drawer: Balances opening cash by counting cash at beginning of work shifts according to cashiers’ policy.
8. Organization: Maintain a clean and orderly workstation and area.
